Work. The long never ending hours that eat up our lives, filled with repetitive tedium and pointlessness. Little more than slavery. So there I was, at my job, dreading the fact that I still had six more hours to go.
Looking up at the clock only made it worse. It was moving so slowly, and I could swear it was headed in the Wrong Direction. Time wasn’t just standing still IT WAS REWINDING IN SLOW MOTION!
Grumpy customers ordering their food, the greasy job of cleaning a well used deep fryer, and the dull ache in my feet were making me wish for an ailment just so I could go home.
But then it happened! I heard my co-worker swearing (which was a common occurrence). But I also smelled something wierd and dry. So I went to check it out. My co-worker had caught the dishwasher on fire…
She’d used Oven Cleaner on it, didn’t rinse it out, closed the dishwasher and ran it. The dishwasher heated up the oven cleaner till it caught on a flash fire. The thing was black on the inside and the thick copious smoke bellowing out of it quickly filled the whole room.
And I’ll just add a little information right here. I am allergic to oven cleaner. So I get one little whiff of the chemical smoke and my lungs are burning, face is itching, and I got my ailment. I got to go home. Only problem is I am having trouble breathing! So, the morel of the story… be careful what you wish for because you just might get it.
